To start with: Who is Van Der Maarel?

Van Der Maarel is the founder of event styling in the Netherlands. When you have been providing events with impressive styling for over 65 years, you can certainly say that, right? From eye-catching visual decorations to stylish furniture that optimizes the visitor experience. Years of experience also ensure that we know what works and what doesn't. But naturally, we are not afraid to try something new. With attention to our clients' wishes and needs, and our knowledge of materials, furniture, and possibilities, we create a complete event experience.

What kind of events are you absolutely best at? And why?

Essentially, any event where we can truly stand alongside our client as a creative sparring partner. No matter how big or small the request, we unburden you, think along regarding practical matters, and surprise with details. That makes us suitable for any event. Indoors or outdoors. At the office or at a unique location. Regional or international. With our small team, creativity and personality come first.

We would love to hear more about an event that stuck with you! Which location was it at, and why do you still look back on it fondly?

This is an event at the National Maritime Museum. This event was attended by hundreds of foreign guests as part of an international congress. An iconic, imposing location calls for matching decor. In this case, we therefore opted for Dutch glory in its purest form: lavish floral decorations and objects in impressive vases, created by a team of floral arrangers. The pieces sparkled in the space, which was fully in line with the client's corporate identity. In collaboration with the lighting specialist, we used purple light to create the right atmosphere for this 'come together' evening.

What is great about a collaboration like this is that we truly get to be a partner. We know the rules and requirements of a venue and act accordingly. Being able to draw on that experience saves a lot of time and energy. Through close collaboration, we always achieve a fantastic experience in both process and result. And all within the budgetary constraints.

That collaboration also means flexibility. We noticed this when COVID-19 drastically changed our work. When online events were forced into the picture, we once again joined forces with the National Maritime Museum. They provided a beautiful location, we amazing styling. Together, we created four studio settings and introduced clients to creative possibilities, even when limitations seemed significant.
