Unique Venues of Amsterdam is the association of unique event venues in Amsterdam. United together, we promote Amsterdam as a location for conferences and events. It is possible for a venue to join. But what admission criteria actually apply? We would be happy to explain!
To begin with; the location criteria
The list of criteria is as follows:
- The location is situated within the A10 Amsterdam ring road.
- It is a unique location with a zoning designation that was different at the time of its establishment from the current designation as the rental of square meters for the events market.
- The location is well-maintained and adds value to the brand perception of the city of Amsterdam. This may be due to, on the one hand, its architectural or historical past, and on the other, its unique profile.
- The venue has a minimum capacity of 50 people for a sit-down dinner and/or 100 people for a theater setup.
- The location is an independent business and is not part of a chain or group.
- The venue has a professional management team, maintains a fixed pricing policy, and is a professional in the events industry.
Criteria regarding business operations
In addition to a number of requirements regarding the company or its location, there are also some substantive requirements. It is important that each location can make a proportionate contribution to the association. Naturally, the way the company is run is also of importance in this regard. The criteria that are considered are:
- The location is financially stable; the figures are substantiated in an annual report or in a document approved by the accountant.
- The location has been in operation for more than a year and is open all year round.
- The location holds the required permits (operating license, liquor and catering license, event permit, Environmental Management Act permit) and complies with the fire safety requirements as established by the fire department.
- The location is able to respond to an incoming request or inquiry within 48 hours.
- Based on its own mission and vision, the location commits to continuously delivering high quality.
- The location is known for its good hospitality.
- The venue has its own events department that is staffed full-time with
- both Dutch- and English-speaking account managers.
- The location has an active in-house emergency response organization.
Not to be forgotten: criteria regarding the common interest:
As an association, we strive to provide added value. Together we achieve more, and by collaborating, we achieve the most. Therefore, there are a number of criteria that serve the common interest:
- The venue commits to actively referring leads that cannot be placed within its own venue to other members of Unique Venues of Amsterdam.
- The location will give the logo a prominent place in its communications and on the company website.
- The venue is present at the members' meetings organized by the board.
- The venue commits to participating as actively as possible in the activities, fairs,
- and networking meetings.
- The location shares key figures regarding market developments.
Well, that is quite a list. In addition to these criteria, the board of Unique Venues of Amsterdam reserves the right to refuse a member or grant an exception to certain criteria.
