KIT Events – Events for Change
A unique event venue in Amsterdam
KIT Events is located in one of the most impressive and historic buildings in Amsterdam. Aside from the tall buildings in the Zuidas, KIT (formerly Royal Tropical Institute)is the largest building in the city – even larger than Central Station. This monumental building, established in 1926, exudes history while simultaneously looking forward to the future. With its unique combination of architectural grandeur, social engagement, and sustainable innovation, KIT is a venue where events are not only memorable but also meaningful.
Sustainability & Social Involvement
KIT is much more than an event venue. It houses the Wereldmuseum and serves as the first official SDG House in the Netherlands. With over 70 start-ups and established companies focused on social impact, KIT is a vibrant hub for change. These include organizations such as Groene Grachten, which works towards the sustainability of historic buildings, and KIT Live, where young talents in theater, music, and dance can develop their skills.
Sustainability is not an afterthought, but a core value at KIT. We are proud of our completely fossil-free status, which is made possible by innovative technologies such as a WKO system for sustainable heating and cooling. Our green-blue roof gathers and reuses rainwater, while our vegetable garden and local suppliers ensure fresh, seasonal ingredients. At KIT, we believe that events and sustainability go hand in hand.
Events with Impact
Whether you are organizing a meeting, conference, reception, or dinner; an event at KIT always contributes to a sustainable and social future. Since the visit of Kofi Annan (former Secretary-General of the United Nations) in 2017, KIT has been recognized as the first SDG House in the Netherlands. The profits from events are directly invested in knowledge projects regarding topics such as healthcare, food security, and gender equality. Your event at the KIT will therefore not only be a success but will also contribute to a better world.

Downingstreet & Historic Meeting Rooms
In addition to the large halls, KIT offers a range of smaller and atmospheric spaces for meetings, presentations, and exclusive gatherings. The Council Room, Boardroom, and Regents' Room can also be opened up into one large space. These were once the domain of influential leaders and are now exuding history and available for high-end meetings. The Maurits Room is ideal for seated dinners for up to 72 guests, but also accommodates debates and lectures with a capacity of 100 guests. Additionally, there are unique locations such as the Foyer and 'Under the Arches,' perfect for lunch breaks, receptions, and networking events. The Council Room, Boardroom, Emma Room, and Claus Room each have their own distinct character and specifications, making them all suitable as breakout rooms or for board meetings, presentations, conferences, or workshops.
Culinary perfection from our own kitchen
Our chefs and their team provide a top-level gastronomic experience. Whether it's an exclusive seated dinner for 160 guests, a walking dinner for 600 guests, or a business lunch – everything is prepared with craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Sustainability plays a key role in our kitchen. We work with seasonal products from local suppliers and minimize food waste. We partner with Earth Water, fair chain Moyee Coffee, and the Koekfabriek, each making a positive impact on the world. Additionally, our catering offers a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options, ensuring that sustainable enjoyment becomes the standard.
