In the centre of Amsterdam lies the Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. Over four centuries, since its foundation in 1638, an impressive collection of trees and plants has been brought together, offering an unique decor for a meeting, reception or dinner.
Not just a room
The Hortus has various spaces for venue hire, each with its own character. The comfortable Laranjazaal is on the top floor of our monumental Orangery. The bright room with floor to ceiling windows offers a view of the garden and of the Amsterdam city life. Moreover, the included access to the garden creates the perfect opportunity for breaks and refreshing brainstorm sessions.
When you dine in the evening at the Hortus, you have exclusive access to the garden. The Orangery is connected to the beautiful terrace and dining can take place both indoors and outdoors. The Palmenkas is a light, monumental greenhouse in the garden where, in winter, our palms and cycads collection is stalled, but which is available for dinners or receptions in the summer months.
We do our best to work towards your wishes. Therefore, we work with our own selection of professional caterers, who have good experience with working in our kitchen and garden.
With your booking you contribute directly to the conservation and management of the garden and collection. The Hortus Botanicus is an independent foundation that depends on its own revenues.
